After 37 years of working in energy infrastructure, Executive Vice President Sheri Blauwiekel has learned that success is no accident. In part, it results from a curious mind and the courage to try something new in many aspects of life. For example, she learned to play the harp about 10 years ago.
“I encourage others to try new things because those experiences allow you to see a wider range of choices and opportunities,” she says.
At Black & Veatch, we celebrate our professionals inside and outside of work. We recognize how their individual passions, skills and abilities help us fulfill our Mission of Building a World of Difference.
TRANSCRIPT:
The harp is a very meaningful instrument. As you play, not only are you getting some of the music and you’re hearing the music, you’re actually feeling vibrations. There’s something mesmerizing about those vibrating strings. It’s just enjoyable to do. One of the biggest compliments is if somebody falls asleep while you’re playing [laugh].
I would encourage people to try something new because these new experiences broaden your horizons and brings in experiences that you hadn’t even imagined before.
I’ve experienced that in the harp world and I also experience it here at Black & Veatch.
