CityWall is a large multi-touch display installed in central down town Helsinki which acts as a collaborative and playful interface for its urban surroundings. The new 3D interface launched 8 October 2008 allows interacting with 3D worlds of related information and enables multiple content, multiple timelines and participants to generate content.
CityWall remains as permanent installation in Lasipalatsi, with many thanks for support from Tommi Ilmonen at http://multitouch.fi/ and the HIIT team Jari Kleimola, Rodolfo Samperio and Peter Peltonen. The work has been funded by the 6th Framework Research Programme of the EU, through the IPCity project http://www.ipcity.eu (FP-2004- IST-4-27571). The video was shot and edited by Visa Noronen.
The Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT conducts world-class research on future information technology. HIIT is a joint research institution of Helsinki University of Technology TKK and the University of Helsinki.
